Contrary to popular belief, carposting has been a part of meme culture for just over half a decade. It began in August of 2014 when a small network of about a half-dozen young people on YouTube discovered a shared passion for creating pointless, idiotic (yet somehow still absolutely hilarious) short video clips based on the cars they owned. Most of these people owned cheap, shitty craigslist cars, so many of these video clips memed the overall hilarity of driving such a shitbox.
Shortly after the upbringing of this new group, it began gaining in popularity. By early December, 2014, there were somewhere around 35 active carposters (including myself, as I joined on November 17, 2014). It was around this time that one of the founding members, representing a 1996 Toyota Camry, became familiar with the concept of shitposting. Camry later combined shitposting with the use of cars and dubbed the group's activities 'Carposting'. The term would endure throughout the depths of time.
